Balkan Holidays has today announced that it is doubling the number of its flights to Bulgaria from Teesside International Airport for summer 2021, following excellent sales for its 2019 and 2020 services.
Balkan, the leading specialist for summer beach breaks to Bulgaria, will introduce an additional midweek flight over the summer season to Bourgas so holidaymakers can enjoy seven, ten, 11, 14 or even longer night breaks to popular Black Sea beach resorts such as Sunny Beach.
This additional weekly flight is yet another show of support for the airport and its 10-Year Rescue Plan, and comes just ten days after Eastern Airways announced six new routes across the UK and Ireland.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Ever since I brought our airport back in to public ownership to save it from closure, we have been working hard to deliver even more summer holiday opportunities for local people. Thanks to supportive partners like Balkan Holidays, we are doing just that.
“Balkan saw some great passenger numbers on their services last year, and it clearly knows that there’s the potential to grow these even further. Balkan is committed to delivering fantastic beach holidays and they have rightly proved very popular.
“But now that we have attracted these additional flights, and our new routes, we need to use them or lose them. This announcement is another indication that our airport has a bright future ahead of it for both our holidaymakers and businesses.”
Bulgaria has just been voted “the world’s best-value holiday destination” for the third year running. Balkan’s breaks for both summer 2020 and for 2021 are on sale now and begin from as little as £368pp for self-catering in June and from only £476pp all-inclusive. Low deposits are available for just £49pp.
Louise Newton, Head of Marketing for Balkan Holidays said: “This is such a fantastic and easy to use airport and that’s why it’s such a hit with holidaymakers. We’re delighted to be growing our convenient flights to the beaches of Bulgaria. On arrival, there's a hotel or apartment for everyone, and so much to do and see. We look forward to working with the airport and all the local travel agents to continue to make this a great success. It's a thrilling development and we look forward to providing memorable breaks for even more holidaymakers in the years to come”.
Kate Willard, Director of Partnership Development at Stobart Group added “I am delighted to see the continued growth in the number of flights operating from Teesside International Airport. We have seen a significant uplift in passengers over the last year, and an increased number of flights to the Balkans will bring even more choice to people using this fabulous airport”.
