Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has visited Close Protection Security to help officially open the doors to its new state-of-the-art offices and training facility.
The brand new unit is based at TeesAMP, the £22.5million cutting-edge technology park supported by £7.65million from the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority.
Close Protection Security was set up by Glenn Bartlett in March 2017 with just two staff and, following a period of huge expansion, the company now employs more than 70 personnel with new opportunities to grow further. The firm works extensively across Tees Valley and has recently secured major contracts with local businesses such as Middlesbrough FC, Psyche, AV Dawson and Teesside International Airport.
The growth of the business, which now turns over more than £1million per year, has meant that it quickly outgrew its former premises. Its new high quality business accommodation features an onsite gym for employees as well as meeting rooms and training facilities.
To meet its ambitious growth plans, the forward-thinking security company has further signed an agreement with Middlesbrough College to deliver accredited courses in security, leading to a route to employment for people interested in the sector. It provides all aspects of accredited security training courses from door supervision to advanced close protection along with first aid at work and physical intervention applications.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “I’m delighted to see another local business, growing rapidly and delivering a fantastic service and product to other high-profile local businesses. This new facility is superb and brilliant example of a business within Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool succeeding and growing through innovation and ambition.
“Glenn is a prime example to be able inspire others. This new training facility, in partnership with Middlesbrough College, will be of huge benefit to the region delivering close protection and security accreditation to meet the growing demands for such jobs.”
Glenn Bartlett, Close Protection Security Managing Director, added; “I’m delighted that Ben took time out to come and open our superb new facility here at TeesAMP. Close Protection Security are growing from strength to strength and that is in part down to the many new opportunities that are arising here in Tees Valley.
“We’ve been fortunate to win some great contracts at the likes of Teesside Airport, AV Dawson and to supply brand ambassadors to help launch the UK’s first e-scooters. We’re really excited for our future, working with Middlesbrough College, to get our first cohort of students through our doors and to keep raising the standards of security for Tees Valley and beyond.”
